Random Acts of Flowers
Through repurposed flowers, Jason Fulk, a dedicated volunteer network, and Random Acts of Flowers Indianapolis spread kindness, connection, and moments of joy to those facing challenging times.

Random Acts of Flowers Indianapolis (RAFI) is a small but mighty non-profit that exists to improve the emotional health and well-being of individuals in healthcare settings by delivering repurposed flower bouquets, encouragement, and moments of kindness. It has two paid staff members and nearly 200 active volunteers who help pick up donated flowers, process them, arrange them into beautiful bouquets, and hand-deliver them to individuals who need them most.
Beyond its daily volunteer schedule, RAFI offers a Flowers After Hours workshop where individuals and businesses can reserve a session for their group to create beautiful bouquets that are then delivered to people in healthcare settings.
New for 2026, RAFI has developed a team-building workshop focused on floral arranging, which is open to corporations, small businesses, non-profits, and any team looking for a meaningful way to connect through participating in a group activity.
We asked Jason Fulk to share his experience with Random Acts of Flowers.
What’s your role in this cause? I was elected to the RAFI Board of Directors in 2025.
What inspired you to dedicate your time and effort to this cause? RAFI serves and directly benefits two different communities. Individuals in health care settings, such as hospitals and elder care facilities, receive random acts of kindness (flowers and smiles!) at times when they may need it most. Some are experiencing a challenging health situation and/or may not have friends and family able to influence their well-being.
In addition, RAFI’s volunteers have found RAFI to be a place where they can develop a sense of community (not to mention floral arranging skills!) and deep social bonds through shared dedication to RAFI’s mission.
Lastly, almost all of the materials RAFI uses to further its mission are recycled, upcycled, or composted. The “past-the-expiration-date” or gently-used flowers donated by florists, grocery stores, and banquet facilities, and second-hand vases are all given another meaningful life.
In what ways have you seen your efforts positively impact the community? The best way to describe RAFI’s impact on the local community is through the voices of the beneficiaries of RAFI’s work:
“Spark of light, color, and joy. I felt less alone even when I was by myself and anxious or sad in my room waiting for tests and answers.”
“I just wanted to let you know that this bouquet made my day so much brighter. As a mom to a medically complex little munchkin, sometimes it’s hard to see the light. But coming out of an appointment where progress is super slow and being handed this bouquet…it was like someone, somewhere was saying ‘we see you out there and here’s a hug.’ Thank you so much for this.”
Is there any other information you’d like to share?
RAFI is always in need of vases — larger Ball jars are the perfect size. If residents have used vases they are able to donate (5-8” high preferred), please
e-mail Jason (jason@jfulklegal.com) to make arrangements for pickup or drop off at his
home.
How long have you lived in the community? I have lived in the Village of WestClay since 2014. My family and I enjoy the ample walking paths,
restaurants, and other amenities, and neighborhood functions. People walking along Druid Pond seem to tolerate the two fence terrorists in our backyard. That’s a nice surprise.
Visit RAFI’s website at www.rafindy.org to purchase tickets, explore sponsorship opportunities, and learn more about upcoming vase drives.
