Craftsmanship You Can Count On: LowCo Roofing & Exteriors Serves the Coastal Empire
Sometimes the path to a career begins in the most unexpected places—even on a honeymoon.
For Thomas Lance, the journey into the roofing and exterior industry began with a conversation on a beach in Mexico. While celebrating with his wife Kirsten, Lance struck up a conversation with a man planning to start a roofing company in Savannah. Before the trip was over, he had been offered the opportunity to help launch and run the business.
What began as a chance meeting turned into a decade-long career in the industry. Over the years, Lance learned the business from the ground up—sales, project management, operations, and most importantly, how to take care of customers. That experience ultimately led him to start LowCo Roofing & Exteriors, a company built around a simple but powerful idea: treat people right and do quality work you can stand behind.
Today, LowCo Roofing & Exteriors serves homeowners throughout the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry, helping with roofing, siding, windows, and exterior renovations. For many homeowners, calling a contractor means something important is happening with their home—often repairs after storms or major improvements to protect their investment.
“That’s something we take seriously,” Lance says. “Most people only work with a contractor a few times in their life, so we want them to feel confident about the decisions they’re making.”
One of the ways the company builds that trust is through transparency. When inspecting a roof or exterior, Lance and his team take time to walk homeowners through what they’re seeing and explain their options clearly.
“Sometimes a roof needs to be replaced, but sometimes it’s just a repair,” he explains. “Our goal is to be honest and straightforward so people know exactly what they’re dealing with.”
That approach has helped the company grow largely through referrals—something Lance sees as the strongest sign that the team is doing things the right way.
Craftsmanship also plays a major role in the company’s reputation. Coastal homes face unique challenges, from heat and humidity to severe storms, and proper installation can make all the difference in how well materials hold up over time. LowCo Roofing & Exteriors focuses on quality materials and experienced crews to ensure every project is built to last.
Behind the work is a dedicated team that keeps the business running smoothly. Lance credits team members Patrick, Andrew, Autumn, and Logan with helping maintain the company’s high standards and ensuring customers feel supported throughout the entire process.
“They all bring something different to the table,” Lance says. “But we share the same mindset of doing quality work and treating people right.”
Looking ahead, the company plans to continue growing thoughtfully. Expansion of the window division and taking on additional roofing and exterior projects are part of the plan, along with bringing a few more talented team members on board. For Lance, however, growth isn’t just about getting bigger—it’s about continuing to improve while maintaining the same level of service that built the company’s reputation.
Outside of work, Lance enjoys spending time with his family. He and his wife Kirsten have been together for eight years and are raising two daughters, Kennedy and Maddie Grace. Their daughters attend Savannah Christian Preparatory School, and the family is active at Compassion Christian Church.
When he finds a little free time, Lance enjoys playing golf, boating, and spending time with friends and family. A graduate of Benedictine Military School, he credits the school with shaping many of the values he carries into his work today—discipline, integrity, and pride in what you do.
Those same values guide how he runs his company.
“Family, community, and hard work are really important to me,” Lance says. “And those are the same values that go into how we run our business every day.”
His advice for Westbrook residents considering exterior work on their homes is simple: do your homework before hiring a contractor.
In an industry where reputation means everything, that’s advice Lance has built his business on from the very beginning.
