Building a Business, Building a Life Together
For Kevin and Angelica Obregon, entrepreneurship isn’t simply about building a business. It’s about building something together—something that reflects their values, draws on everything they’ve learned along the way, and ultimately creates a legacy their two daughters can be proud of.
The couple has called Westbrook home for the past three years, but their story together began much earlier. Kevin and Angelica have been together for nearly 17 years, and have lived in the Savannah area for 11. Today they are partners in nearly every sense of the word: life partners, parents and business partners.
Their newest venture is Benjamin Franklin Plumbing of Savannah Metro, but the path that led them there has included military service, healthcare, real estate and the mortgage industry.
Kevin served in the U.S. Navy as an Air Traffic Controller, spending time stationed in Washington State during his military career. After leaving the Navy, he and Angelica moved to Savannah so Kevin could attend pharmacy school at South University. Today, he continues to work as a practicing pharmacist and serves as the overnight pharmacist at Memorial Hospital. He also holds a master’s degree in business, making his interest in entrepreneurship a natural complement to his career in healthcare.
Angelica has built her own career in the mortgage industry as the owner of Key Mortgages. She remains very active in the business while also playing a significant role in growing their plumbing company, particularly when it comes to social media, marketing and building the company’s presence within the community.
The decision to enter the plumbing industry came from a desire to continue building something of their own. The couple had already gained firsthand experience through real estate and their rental properties, as well as Angelica’s work helping families navigate the mortgage process. Owning property had also taught them just how important it is to have dependable professionals available when something goes wrong.
“We had been looking at different opportunities within the trades and felt plumbing was an essential service where we could build a strong business while doing something that genuinely helps people,” Kevin says. “It felt like the right next step for us and a way to take everything we had learned from owning businesses and real estate and build something together.”
That emphasis on relationships carries into the way they approach their business. Kevin and Angelica regularly attend networking events and enjoy meeting people throughout the community—not simply as a way to promote their company, but because they genuinely value making connections.
“For us, it is not just about handing someone a business card,” Angelica says. “We want people to know who we are and feel comfortable calling us when they need help.”
That personal approach is also reflected in Benjamin Franklin Plumbing’s philosophy. The company focuses on honest recommendations, upfront pricing, punctual service and treating customers’ homes with respect. As the business grows, Kevin and Angelica hope to expand their team and serve more families and businesses throughout the Savannah Metro area without losing the personal connection that helped shape the company.
Their lives are certainly full. Between the plumbing company, Angelica’s mortgage business, Kevin’s work as a pharmacist, networking and the everyday responsibilities of owning businesses, there is little downtime. Still, there is one priority neither is willing to compromise: being present for their daughters.
Sophia is turning five, and Emily recently turned three. During the summer, the girls can often be found at the neighborhood pool with their friends and neighbors. The family also enjoys vacations, trying new restaurants and cheering the girls on at gymnastics. Kevin stays active at the gym, while Angelica enjoys Burn Boot Camp, but much of their free time simply revolves around being together.
“We work hard and stay busy, but we also make sure we are there for the everyday moments with our girls and that we are making memories together as a family,” Angelica says. “That part is just as important to us as anything we are building professionally.”
For Kevin and Angelica, that balance is at the center of everything they do. They want their daughters to see firsthand what it means to work hard, pursue opportunities and build something meaningful—while also understanding that success isn’t measured solely by what you accomplish professionally.
“We really are a team in everything,” Kevin says.
As they continue growing their businesses and deepening their roots in Westbrook, the Obregons are grateful for the opportunity to build their professional future in the same community where they are raising their family. Their goal is to serve their neighbors well, make genuine connections and create a business that feels personal.
Ultimately, they aren’t just building a plumbing company. They’re building a life—and they’re doing it together.
