Ashlee Johnson: Excellence in Every Arena

Ashlee Johnson has grown up surrounded by family, faith, and a strong sense of community in Winfield. She is the daughter of Andy and Jennifer Johnson, and the youngest of three siblings, with sisters Jozee Johnson Peles and Jenna Johnson, along with brother Andrew. Family has always been a steady foundation for Ashlee, shaping her values and supporting her many academic and athletic pursuits.

A lifelong Winfield resident, Ashlee began her education at Winfield Elementary before moving through Winfield Middle School and is now finishing her senior year at Winfield High School. Looking ahead, she plans to attend Coastal Carolina University in Conway, South Carolina, where she will major in human health sciences with aspirations of becoming a Physician’s Assistant. “My goal is to build a strong academic and professional foundation, gain as many new experiences as possible, and ultimately pursue a career in healthcare,” Ashlee shared with Stroll Winfield.

Ashlee’s plans already include some exciting milestones. She was awarded the Presidential Scholarship to Coastal Carolina and recently accepted into the Vogue College of Fashion Summer School in New York City. This July, she will live in the Vogue dorms for two weeks while studying media and marketing behind one of the most influential fashion magazines in the world. She also hopes to apply for the Disney College Program in the summer of 2027, where she would serve guests while living on Disney property in Orlando.

Ashlee is a four-year member of the Winfield High School Girls Basketball team and a standout competitor in Track and Field. One of her favorite memories came in 2024 when she and her teammates won the West Virginia AA Girls Shuttle Hurdle State Championship. “Running that race together was an incredible moment of teamwork and accomplishment that I’ll never forget,” she said.

Ashlee’s list of achievements is impressive, including two West Virginia AA State Championships in Track and Field, a 2024 Shuttle Hurdle Relay State Championship, Cardinal Conference basketball honors, MVP recognition at the 2025 Herbert Hoover Quick Kickoff Tournament, and reaching 500 rebounds in her high school basketball career. Known for her grit on the court, Ashlee takes pride in doing the little things that make a difference. “I’ve always focused on taking charges because I know how much it can change the outcome of a game,” she explained.

Beyond sports, Ashlee is deeply involved at Winfield High School. She serves as Vice President of the Key Club, leads Lunch Bunch, participates in S.A.D.D., and is an active member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club, Science National Honor Society, Pep Club, and Mu Alpha Theta. Her involvement has helped shape her into a disciplined, goal-oriented young leader.

Ashlee credits former coach David Bailey as a lasting influence. “He taught us to keep God at the center of everything and be thankful for every opportunity,” she said. As graduation approaches, Ashlee is soaking up every moment, confident and prepared for the next chapter ahead.
